On June 25th, 2022, 6 pm, the Kingston Chapter of Child Haven International is hosting its annual fundraiser at the Royal Kingston Curling Club (130 Days Road, Kingston). Tickets are $40 (children under 12 free) and available on the website or at Novel Idea bookstore.
It features a sit-down buffet supper of authentic Indian vegetarian and meat dishes. Our chef, Ottawa’s Kuljit Sodhi, will be working with the Kingston volunteer cooks to prepare a wonderful meal. There’ll be live jazz music during dinner. Afterwards, Bollywood dancing is on the agenda, and this has always been a crowd pleaser at past events! Beautiful fair trade Indian handicrafts will be available for sale and on auction.
Kingston’s event is one of twenty such events that occur annually to raise money for the Canadian charity, Child Haven International. It was founded by Bonnie and Fred Cappuccino from Maxwell, Ontario. The Charity runs eight children’s homes in India, Bangladesh, and Nepal, which serve about 1,300 formerly destitute children. All the managers and staff are local.
