International Women’s Day EmpowerMarket: A Celebration of Women’s Achievements at the Italo-Canadian Club

The Italo-Canadian Club of Kingston is proud to present the “EmpowerMarket” in celebration of International Women’s Day on Saturday, March 9th, 2024. This event, held at 1174 Italia Ln, Kingston, ON, is not just a celebration but a powerful platform to empower and uplift local women. With tickets priced at $50, attendees will enjoy a rich experience that includes access to local female vendors offering a variety of products, complimentary cocktails, door prizes, live music, a fashion show, and the much-anticipated Inspirational Woman Award ceremony. We are excited to showcase local talents and raise funds for Dress for Success, Dawn House, and MRKH Canada through our silent auction.
This year, the EmpowerMarket will feature live music from the talented ATIARI, a Filipino-Canadian singer-songwriter known for her unique blend of R&B, soul, jazz, pop, and electronic music. Additionally, the Greater Kingston Chorus will grace our event with their dynamic four-part harmony in the a cappella style, offering a diverse and engaging musical experience.

Ainsley Latour: Our first nominee, Ainsley Latour, is a remarkable figure in the realm of science and advocacy for inclusivity in STEM. As a deaf and neurodivergent entrepreneur, she founded IDEA-STEM to ensure inclusivity for people from all equity-deserving groups in STEM fields. Her work extends from leading research at Brain Injury Canada to actively participating in policy development for accessible education. Ainsley’s resilience as a cancer survivor and her role as a dedicated mother further amplify her inspiring journey.

Cressana Williams-Massey: The second nominee, Cressana Williams-Massey, is an exemplary leader in education, specifically for Black youth at Queen’s University. Her innovative programs, such as Sistas-in-STEM and Kiddies Robotics Club, have profoundly impacted children’s lives. Cressana’s initiatives provide essential skills and foster a sense of belonging, addressing the disparities Black children often face. Her dedication to creating culturally sensitive and inclusive educational spaces showcases her unwavering commitment to empowerment and representation.

Erica Kramer: Our third nominee, Erica Kramer, is the beloved manager of the East End Starbucks, known for transforming the café into a community hub. Her compassionate leadership, especially in organizing events for diverse groups and advocating for individuals with exceptionalities, reflects her deep commitment to community building. Erica’s personal journey of overcoming loss and her active involvement in local charities and the ‘Circle of Friends’ program highlight her extraordinary capacity for kindness and service.
