Great Bach Marathon 2026

For one inspiring Saturday afternoon, Kingston becomes a living concert hall devoted to one of history’s greatest musical minds. The Great Bach Marathon returns for its seventh year, inviting music lovers to step inside the soaring beauty of St. George’s Cathedral and immerse themselves in the timeless works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Presented by the Royal Canadian College of Organists – Kingston Centre, this much-loved annual event brings together musicians from across the region to celebrate Bach’s extraordinary legacy. From intricate organ works to ensemble performances filled with clarity, joy, and emotional depth, the afternoon offers a rich and varied musical journey.

The format is as welcoming as the music itself. Come for a single performance or stay for the entire afternoon. Drift in quietly, let the music wash over you, and leave whenever you need. There is no registration required and no admission fee, making this a truly open and accessible celebration of classical music.

Performers include members of the Kingston Community of Organists, an ensemble from the Central Forces Band in Ottawa, Flutissimo, the Moellman family, and other musicians from Kingston’s vibrant musical community. Together, they transform the cathedral into a shared space of listening, reflection, and connection.

While admission is free, freewill donations are warmly encouraged. Proceeds will be shared between the RCCO Scholarship Fund, supporting the next generation of musicians, and St. George’s Cathedral.
