Come Play by the Lake – One-Act Play Festival

Domino Theatre invites you to Come Play by the Lake, a vibrant two-evening celebration of dramatic storytelling and local talent in Kingston’s beloved Domino Theatre. Featuring six original one-act plays over two nights—each evening showcases three distinct performances ranging from heart-wrenching to hilarious, introspective to imaginative.

🎭 Friday, July 4th – Opening Night Lineup:

Tribute to Wildflower by Penny Barker
A moving story of grief, sisterhood, and healing as Julie prepares to honour her estranged sister’s life at a memorial, with help from an unexpected companion.
Sea Wall by Simon Stephens
A poetic monologue exploring love, memory, and loss through the voice of Alex, a father reflecting on the beauty and fragility of life.
The Fall After Midsummer by Chloe Whitehorn
A witty, dark sequel to Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream — where Tania, Ron, and Nick confront modern love, madness, and messy endings.
🎭 Saturday, July 5th – Finale & Awards Night:

Acorn by Harry Jordan
Three couples, three generations, and one theme: the journey of love, from dreaming of the future to reminiscing about the past.
NUTZ by Kate Barker
The Peanuts gang in their 50s? Yes, really. It’s one bittersweet night at Marcie’s Bar as nostalgia collides with harsh realities in a world that’s changed too much.
I’ll Call You Back by Valerie Winslow
Phone calls, crossed wires, and comic chaos unfold in this fast-paced piece about modern communication—and miscommunication.
The festival concludes with a 3-judge adjudication and awards presentation on Saturday night, celebrating excellence in acting, direction, and storytelling.
