Every artist has a story. Long before the first brushstroke, photograph, poem, sculpture, or song, there are the people, places, experiences, and moments that quietly shape how we see the world. On Thursday, August 27, the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning invites artists and creative thinkers to explore that story during the Artistic Genealogy Workshop with Creativity Studio Artist Leisa Rich.
Led by accomplished artist and arts educator Leisa Rich, this immersive one-day workshop encourages participants to look inward and uncover the influences that have helped define their creative journey. Through guided exercises, thoughtful reflection, and engaging group discussions, participants will create their own artistic genealogy: a visual map that traces the personal, cultural, and lived experiences that continue to inspire and inform their work.

Unlike traditional art workshops focused on technique or materials, this experience is about discovering the deeper roots of creativity. Why are you drawn to certain colours, themes, or ideas? Which people, memories, or life experiences have quietly influenced your artistic voice? By exploring these questions, participants often uncover meaningful connections that can lead to fresh inspiration and a renewed sense of purpose in their creative practice.
The workshop welcomes artists and creatives of every discipline. Whether you paint, write, photograph, sculpt, perform, design, or simply consider yourself a creative person seeking new inspiration, the exercises are designed to help you better understand your unique artistic identity.

Leisa Rich is known for creating thoughtful, welcoming environments where curiosity and self-discovery take centre stage. Participants will have the opportunity to share ideas, learn from one another, and leave with not only a visual representation of their creative journey but also new perspectives on where that journey might lead next.
Hosted in the Malting Tower at the Tett Centre, this intimate workshop is limited to just 24 participants, ensuring meaningful conversations and individual engagement throughout the day.
Admission is offered on a Pay What You Can (PWYC) basis, with donations supporting the Tett Centre’s ongoing commitment to making arts programming affordable and accessible for the community.
