Born and raised in Amherstview, Angela Verbrugge attended KCVI and Ernestown before launching a theatre and music career that’s taken her across the globe. Now based on Vancouver Island, she returns to Kingston with a global reputation in tow—and a voice that JazzTimes calls “winsome, brightly-burnished, and full of emotional intelligence.” Her three albums showcase both original lyrics and clever takes on jazz standards, earning her rave reviews in Jazzwise, All About Jazz, LA Jazz Scene, and beyond.

Backed by the swinging touch of Ray Gallon, a veteran pianist who studied under John Lewis and Jaki Byard, and the tasteful rhythm of Duncan Hopkins, this trio delivers a world-class jazz experience. From her witty originals to modern interpretations of the Great American Songbook, Verbrugge brings a uniquely Canadian voice to classic traditions.
