Step into Kingston’s rich maritime past and discover why the Great Lakes Museum is a true historic gem during Historic Places Days, happening July 11–20, 2025! This 10-day celebration invites visitors of all ages to explore, learn, and engage with the stories that shaped our Great Lakes—and to have a lot of fun while doing it!
Whether you’re a history buff, a curious kid, or someone looking for a unique summer activity, the museum will be buzzing with interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and live demonstrations that bring history to life.
Ongoing Activities (July 11–20, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM daily):
🧠 Challenge your brain with a fun and informative Great Lakes trivia game
🐟 Discover the aquatic life of our lakes—learn who calls them home
🎖️ Dress up as a Naval Reservist and test if you’re “fit to serve”
🎨 Explore the FUSION Glass & Clay Art Exhibit blending creativity with tradition
Special Demonstrations (July 14, 15, 19, 20 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM):
⚙️ Power of Steam – Watch how this powerful force shaped shipping and technology
🛠️ Learn about traditional shipbuilding in Kingston’s historic dry dock
