The Juvenis Festival Returns to Kingston for a Summer Celebration of Youth Arts
For ten inspiring days this summer, Kingston’s stages, studios, and creative spaces will belong to the next generation of artists. From July 30 to August 8, 2026, The Juvenis Festival returns for its sixth year, bringing together theatre, music, visual arts, workshops, and one-of-a-kind performances in a celebration created by youth, for youth.

Presented by Blue Canoe Theatre Productions, the Juvenis Festival is unlike almost any other arts festival in Canada. In fact, it is one of only two festivals in the country entirely created, produced, and operated by people under the age of 30. From performers and directors to volunteers and production staff, the festival showcases what happens when young artists are given the opportunity to lead, create, and inspire.
At the heart of this year’s festival is the beloved musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, a heartwarming and humorous adaptation of Charles M. Schulz’s iconic Peanuts comic strip. Audiences will follow Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, and the rest of the gang through a series of charming, funny, and relatable moments that have delighted generations.

Directed by Hailey Hatfield, the production captures the warmth, imagination, and timeless humour of the classic characters while giving a talented cast of young performers the chance to shine. The musical will run throughout the festival at The Domino Theatre, making it one of the festival’s signature events.

For those who love a challenge, the festival’s legendary 24 Hour Musical returns on August 2 and 3. Participants are handed a musical they have never rehearsed, then given just 24 hours to learn the songs, stage the show, and perform it live before an audience. The result is an energetic, unpredictable, and often hilarious theatrical experience that has become one of the festival’s most anticipated traditions.
Beyond the performances, the Juvenis Festival is committed to helping young artists develop new skills and explore their creativity. Throughout the festival, free workshops for anyone under 30 will cover a wide variety of artistic disciplines, including theatre creation, group singing, production training, and even flipbook animation. By removing financial barriers, these workshops make arts education accessible while encouraging participants to experiment, collaborate, and grow.

Visitors can also explore youth art galleries showcasing the work of emerging local artists, offering another opportunity to experience the incredible creativity thriving within Kingston’s young arts community.
