The Comedy Debates – Fictional Characters Debate Real Topics

What happens when a pirate, a princess, a ninja, a secret agent, a robot, a scarecrow, a sheep in sunglasses… and maybe even Lady Liberty herself… take the stage to debate real-world issues?

You get The Comedy Debates — a wildly original, laugh-out-loud night presented by Improv Kingston.

On Saturday, April 18, the stage downstairs at The Buckle (226 Princess Street) transforms into a battleground of wit, absurdity, and razor-sharp improv. Performers fully embody outrageous fictional characters and argue real topics as if the fate of the universe depends on it. The result? Smart comedy wrapped in chaos, quick thinking, and completely unpredictable punchlines.

Expect rapid-fire arguments, dramatic monologues, unexpected alliances, and plenty of audience laughter as costumed characters defend their positions with theatrical flair and unapologetic confidence. It’s part debate, part improv showdown, and entirely ridiculous in the best possible way.

Whether you love clever satire, character comedy, or simply enjoy watching talented performers think on their feet, this show delivers something different from your typical stand-up night. Every debate is unscripted, meaning no two performances are ever the same.

Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the debates begin at 7:00 PM.
Cover is $20.

Grab your friends, grab a drink, and settle in for a night where fictional icons tackle real topics — and absolutely nothing is taken too seriously.
