Since making their debut in 2024, the group has captivated audiences across the country with sold-out festival performances and a distinctive sound that honours tradition while fearlessly exploring new musical possibilities.

At the heart of Schmaltz & Pepper is a remarkable lineup of award-winning musicians. The ensemble features Eric Abramovitz, principal clarinetist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra; Drew Jurecka, a GRAMMY-nominated arranger and performer; Rebekah Wolkstein, founder of the acclaimed Payadora Ensemble; Michael Herring, a JUNO-nominated bassist; and Jeremy Ledbetter, a JUNO Award-winning pianist and composer.

Together, these accomplished artists create a sound that is at once joyful, sophisticated, and exhilarating. Audiences can expect dazzling instrumental performances, infectious rhythms, playful improvisation, and rich emotional depth as the ensemble reimagines traditional Yiddish music through a contemporary lens.
