March Break at the Great Lakes Museum

This March Break, trade snow boots for sea legs and set sail for adventure at the Great Lakes Museum.

From Monday, March 16 to Friday, March 20, 2026 (10 AM–5 PM), the Museum is opening its doors all week long as part of the Kingston Association of Museums’ March of the Museums — and admission is completely free.

This year’s theme dives deep into Navy heritage, inviting families to explore Canada’s maritime story through hands-on, interactive fun.

Daily Activities:

⚓ Test your strategy skills in a custom Canadian version of Battleship
⚓ See if you’re “Fit to Serve” in the Naval Reserve
⚓ Learn real knot-tying techniques with Sea & Navy Cadets
⚓ Master some “Salty Dog” sailor slang
⚓ Get creative with nautical crafts for all ages

It’s a week designed for curious minds, energetic kids, and anyone who’s ever wondered what life on the water was really like.

Special Performances:

🎭 Paddling Puppeteers – Monday, March 16 at 2 PM
🥁 Indigenous Drumming – Tuesday, March 17 at 1 PM

With free parking on-site and no registration required, it’s an easy and enriching outing for families looking to explore something new during the school break.

Whether you’re building maritime skills, learning naval traditions, or simply enjoying time together by Kingston’s historic waterfront, March Break at the Great Lakes Museum promises discovery, creativity, and a little sea-salted adventure.
