Set against the spectacular backdrop of one of Kingston’s most iconic historic landmarks, the Kings Town Renaissance Faire offers a unique blend of live entertainment, interactive experiences, artisan shopping, and family fun.
One of the festival’s biggest attractions is the return of the legendary Knights of Valour, whose breathtaking full-contact jousting tournaments have thrilled audiences across North America since 1997. Watch skilled riders charge across the arena in displays of horsemanship, courage, and medieval combat that capture the excitement of the “Sport of Kings.” It’s an unforgettable spectacle that brings history to life with pounding hooves, flashing steel, and edge-of-your-seat action.
Families won’t want to miss Cut and Run, an energetic pirate adventure where young “powder monkeys” can learn the art of pirate sword fighting. With plenty of laughs, audience participation, and playful pirate antics, it’s one of the faire’s most popular interactive attractions. Parents should be warned, however, that once the kids learn to wield a sword, they may come looking for their next duel!
Adding to the comedy is Men in Tights, a hilarious performance duo known for transforming classic tales, Shakespearean adventures, and legendary stories into laugh-out-loud productions with help from audience volunteers. Every show is packed with improvisation, quick wit, and family-friendly fun.
Music echoes throughout the grounds as Captain Finn and the Salty Sea Dogs fill the air with lively sea shanties, Celtic tunes, Irish reels, and pirate songs guaranteed to have audiences singing along. Meanwhile, high above the crowds, Kai in Wonderland delivers breathtaking aerial performances, twisting and soaring through flowing silks in a stunning display of athleticism and artistry.
Visitors can also browse an incredible marketplace filled with unique artisan vendors offering handcrafted medieval treasures, fantasy-inspired creations, costumes, leatherwork, jewellery, artwork, and one-of-a-kind gifts. Be sure to keep an eye out for River Mermaid Brie, the enchanting Mermaid of the Thousand Islands, whose magical appearances are always a favourite with children and photographers alike.
