If this sounds like your kind of festive afternoon, then mark your calendars for the Castagnata Christmas Market, returning on Sunday, November 23rd, 2025 at the Italo-Canadian Club of Kingston!
Rooted in the Italian tradition of La Castagnata, this cozy seasonal celebration is all about community, comfort, and Christmas spirit. Every fall in Italy, families and friends gather to enjoy roasted chestnuts, good wine, and great conversation. The Italo-Canadian Club brings that same tradition to Kingston — but with a festive Canadian twist! Last year’s event added a Christmas Market to the classic Castagnata gathering, and the response was so incredible, they’re doing it again — bigger, brighter, and merrier than ever.
From 11 AM to 3 PM, you’ll have the chance to browse 10+ local artisan vendors for all your holiday gift-giving needs. Whether you’re looking for handcrafted jewelry, unique watercolor art, cozy crochet goods, sweet treats like hot cocoa bombs and candy smashers, or even 100%-complete LEGO sets — there’s something for everyone on your list (including you!). You’ll also find handmade soaps, beeswax candles, alpaca mitts, and colourful baskets for organizing your space with style.

🎶 Between 12 PM and 2 PM, enjoy live performances by the Greater Kingston Chorus, serenading shoppers with classic Christmas carols.
🍷 Then from 1 PM to 3 PM, head into the Saletta for the highlight of the day: freshly roasted chestnuts, hot and delicious. Free for ICC members (price TBD for non-members), these classic Italian treats pair perfectly with the specialty Christmas cocktails from the bar — or a warm cup from the complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate station, open all day.
And if you’re hungry for more than just chestnuts, don’t forget the ICC’s popular frozen food products will be available to take home. Stock your freezer for the holidays with authentic, ready-to-heat Italian comfort food.
