Ballet of Lights: Sleeping Beauty in a Sparkling Show
A timeless fairytale shimmers to life in a dazzling new way this spring in Kingston.
On Saturday, April 4, the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts will host Ballet of Lights: Sleeping Beauty in a Sparkling Show, a magical performance that blends classical ballet with modern visual spectacle.
This beloved story is reimagined through breathtaking choreography and innovative stage design as six talented dancers illuminate the stage with glow-in-the-dark costumes. Each movement becomes a radiant display of colour and light, transforming pirouettes, leaps, and sweeping gestures into a glowing dance of magic and motion.
Created by María Farelo and Cristian Pérez of Luma Artistas S.L., this production offers a fresh and enchanting interpretation of the classic fairytale. The familiar story of Princess Aurora, the fateful curse, and the triumph of love unfolds through expressive dance and luminous visual effects that captivate audiences of all ages.
Rather than a traditional ballet presentation, Ballet of Lights creates a multi-sensory experience where technology and artistry combine to bring a classic story into a glowing new dimension. The result is an evening of wonder that feels both timeless and completely new.
Whether you’re a longtime ballet lover, a fan of imaginative stage productions, or simply looking for a unique night out, this performance promises beauty, storytelling, and a little theatrical magic.
