31st Annual Kingston Training Festival

NOTICE VENUE CHANGED TO BAYRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL

For more than three decades, the Kingston Training Festival has brought together martial artists from across Canada for a weekend dedicated to discipline, learning, competition, and community spirit. This year, the tradition continues as the festival returns for its 31st annual event on June 13 and 14, 2026 at Bayridge Secondary School.

Hosted by Tallack Martial Arts, the Kingston Training Festival has become one of the region’s most respected martial arts gatherings, welcoming participants of all ages and experience levels. Over the years, the festival has also raised tens of thousands of dollars for local charities and causes, continuing its mission of building stronger communities through martial arts education and mentorship.

This year’s event supports the Kingston Food Bank, Non-Profit Martial Arts, and the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai, helping provide food support, affordable martial arts access, and preservation of traditional martial arts education.

The festival weekend features exciting public demonstrations, tournaments, seminars, and training opportunities led by master instructors from across the country.

Saturday, June 13 | 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

The Youth Tournament & Board Breaking events will showcase competitors ages 4–17 participating in kata, team kata, sparring, and weaponry divisions. The morning begins with a vibrant Chinese Lion Dance and Okinawan Karate Demonstration, followed by thrilling board-breaking displays using traditional karate techniques.

Sunday, June 14 | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Adult seminars and advanced training sessions will give teens and adults the opportunity to learn directly from experienced master instructors in a variety of disciplines including karate, kickboxing, kung fu, grappling, and traditional weaponry.

Beyond the action and competition, the Kingston Training Festival emphasizes values that extend far beyond martial arts itself: confidence, perseverance, respect, kindness, and leadership. Tallack Martial Arts currently supports over 880 children and adults through martial arts education in the Kingston community, helping students develop both physically and personally.

Whether you’re a martial artist, parent, spectator, or someone curious about the discipline and artistry behind martial arts training, this festival offers an inspiring and energetic weekend for the entire community.
