The Katarokwi Aboriginal community is pleased to announce that the local federal election candidates have accepted the invitation to meet in a traditional setting. A talking circle will be held on Sunday October 4, 2015 at KCHC (Kingston Community Health Center) at 263 Weller Ave.
Introductions and sharing will be encouraged as people get to know each other in a circle format. Meet and Greet – 12:30. Circle – from 1:00 to 3:00. The public is welcome to attend and observe as Aboriginal people form an inner circle of discussion.
Salient points and areas of interest are being gathered representing Aboriginal issues. A meet and greet prior to the Talking Circle and a potluck feast afterwards are part of the agenda. On Monday, October 5, 2015 a Voters’ Clinic will be set up at KCHC from 5:30 to 7:30. It will feature immigrant, youth, senior, and aboriginal community leaders and educators, all speakers, sharing their experiences.
The purpose of the Clinic is to inform the community about voting impacts, registration and process, and to familiarize first time voters and undecided citizens with a question and answer dialogue.
