Calendar Girls

September at the Grand Theatre, brought to us by the King’s Town Players and the Kinsmen Club of Kingston, is the play Calendar Girls.

Written by Tim Firth, this drama is about Chris Harper, a housewife whose best friends husband has passed away from cancer. She decides to try and raise money so there can be a memorial and the way to do that is by starting a calendar and getting middle-aged women to pose au natural.

This is actually based on a true story, which was when 11 women, part of the Womens Institute, made a nude calendar while raising money for the Leukemia Research Fund.

Note that September 9th is an opening night gala which is $30 plus fees/taxes. Every other night it’s $25 plus fees/taxes.
